The best of my Woodlands Van Buren Golf Course wedding photography
from a Woodlands wedding in Wayne, Michigan.
Jessica and Rich's wedding at Woodlands Van Buren Golf Course was one of the very few weddings I've photographed that actually got rained out! We were able to have a quick first look after the bride was hidden by her posse of bridesmaids (which going through my latest wedding photography portfolios I realize that just about all my latest additions do feature first looks and I'm not sure why as they are still less common than not seeing each other beforehand!) and get some nice photos of Jessica and Rich and the wedding party done before we had to get back inside to avoid the rain.

Because of the storm due to hit at the time of their wedding and a coordinator who watched the golf course's radar like a hawk, Jessica and Rich were able to quickly move their wedding ceremony indoors at the Woodlands of Van Buren. Weddings moved indoors always have a cramped, somewhat disheveled feel to them since the aisle are usually improvised and the guests are seated around tables instead of in chairs, but usually by this time, no one cares, they just want to get married. Rich's groomsmen were very playful with each other (which isn't that common), so I spent more time with them than I might normally. I always follow the wedding day story where it goes. I can't predict what will happen and how this particular cast of characters are going to act on this particular day. My job as a wedding photographer is to capture all those behind the day moments as they happen so couples can put their wedding day story back together later.
I loved the dancing photos at this venue. It can be very challenging to light the dance floor when the ceilings are a bit lower, but these worked out perfectly making the banquet room at the Woodlands of Van Buren really stand out in a good way. I loved working with this very gracious, appreciative couple!
