Jackie and Joel’s Eagle Crest Marriott Ann Arbor Wedding in Ypsilanti
Getting Ready For Their Eagle Crest Marriott Ann Arbor Wedding
I know I’m at my kind of wedding when I walk into the room and the bride (whom I’d never met before) is standing spread eagle getting prepped with a huge grin on her face.
Doesn’t stop smiling as I click away. God, I love my job! With the bride’s blessing, I’m including this photo in my blog. I feared ending up in Facebook jail, so I left it off that post. What a way to start our day together!
This was the first photograph of the wedding day!
So let’s get back to Jaqueline and Joel’s Joyous Eagle Crest Marriott Ann Arbor Wedding in Ypsilanti. Wait, what? How is the Marriott Ann Arbor is in Ypsilanti? Not sure at all, but that’s the awkward way it appears in Google.
Here are photos of Jackie’s wedding related items photographed in the balloons and wall art she brought to the getting ready space at hotel (which was connected to the wedding space). I loved photographing her getting her necklace put on with her hair reflected in the mirror. Also was obsessed with the tattoos on her fingers holding her dress in place while she got zipped into it.
“First Look” at Eagle Crest Marriott’s Wedding Venue
I got to photograph something a bit unique; a “First Look” between the groom and his Mom.
Tears a plenty, tears galore from Joel’s Mom.
After learning that this spot was still a bit soggy and watching Joel’s Mom struggle to keep her heels from sinking, I moved Joel and Jackie’s “First Look” location to the side of the reception room.
The only hitch was that the windows are marvelously reflective which meant that I was going to visible. I loved that the wedding ceremony site at Eagle Crest would be reflected, but I certainly didn’t want to be in the photos.
So I put Joel between two poles at an angle. Perfect, right?
After Jackie hugged Joel for a moment or two, Joel turned around and BOLTED backwards behind the pole. I’ve never seen a groom more astonished or look like he may have been hit by lightening!
While Joel is curled up crying, Jackie starts to laugh. Why? She pointed to Joel’s pants and told him his fly was down. What an ice breaker. They both burst into laughter.
Eagle Crest Marriott in Ann Arbor Wedding Ceremony
Their ceremony was super sweet and super quick. The pastor took a selfied. The bride grabbed the groom’s buttocks after they were pronounced married and then they exited.
I had no idea there were bubbles involved in their exit or an epic dip in the middle of the aisle. What a fabulous visual treat!
Cocktail Hour at Eagle Crest Wedding
While wedding guest mingled on the shaded patio, Joel and Jackie signed their marriage license, took a breather then jumped in ready for more bubble photos (with proper lighting this time).
So yeah, I had them play in bubbles for a while. They never said no to anything I asked and they got to do their wedding 100% the way they wanted.
New Wedding Reception Space To Explore at Eagle Crest
I hadn’t been to the Eagle Crest Golf Course and Marriott Hotel in Ypsilanti (the technical name refers to it as the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest… say what?!
Way to try to manipulate Google, I guess!) in a long time and they’ve put up an impressive glassed in pavilion since I was last there. Great space, lots of light. Exactly what Jackie and Joel were looking for.
Party On at Eagle Crest at the Marriott in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti.
With Everlasting Engagement’s Adell to make sure everything went according to plan, and gorgeous flowers from Stacy Krantz, everything went smoothly with plenty of time to smooze, dance and plenty to eat.
Just in case you were wondering, “Hey Marci! Where are all the photos of guests, family and the wedding party?”
There are PLENTY of them, but this wedding felt like Joel and Jackie were in their own little cocoon and I wanted to share and celebrate their love story.
My time ended before the space got its proper glow, so I sort of forced the glowy, cozy look just as my time ended. They are my favorite images of the day.
I cannot tell you how tickled I am that after oodles of years of wedding photography, I can still be dazzled, floored and humbled by such a spectacular wedding!
