Tuesday was Mary and Will’s anniversary of their first date four years ago. Their wedding was supposed to be just the two of them and the four “kids”. they were blending into their union for a tiny second wedding at Cafe Cortina in Farmington Hills, Michigan. But as the day got closer, they decided they really wanted as many of their family members to join them as possible. That brought the total up to 20 (including me)! For a two hour wedding, we got a LOT accomplished. Keep in mind this was a super casual couple who weren’t really interested in standing on tradition. For only having me there for two hours, I wanted to showcase how much of their fantastically hilarious personalities showed through in these photos. I’ve pared down my favorites for facebook and Instagram, but here I wanted to show the moments before and / or after each of my favorites was taken. Two things come through in the photos. How playful Will and Mary are together and how different a second wedding day is from the first. I love, love, love all the care giving both Will and Mary did with their kids as soon as the ceremony was over. Weddings are a big deal for a couple and they are a big deal for kids becoming a blended family. As soon as they shared their first kiss, both of them turned to their kids to share a moment with them. I don’t know what was being said, but that level of tending to other’s needs just doesn’t usually happen on most wedding days for the first timers. This was a lovely union day for six people and I think that’s reflected in the photos. The predicted rain held off, we got a ton of fun photos and as I left, they were tucking into their amazing Cafe Cortina meal surrounded by all their favorite people.
