Lily waited patiently for her fall senior session until the leaves were just the right color for her perfect "classic fall senior photos".
Here's the thing. Fall is by far the most requested time of year for senior pictures in Michigan, but we are NOT guaranteed when the leaves will turn color, how long they'll stay or even if we'll get those glorious orange, yellow and red leaves.
Most people think about all the fall colors in their subdivisions and assume there are tons of places near Troy that have those colors. Well guess what? Those colors do not appear much in nature! Most parks have a few colorful maples planted, but for the most part, the trees that grow in nature tend to be one dominant species and you don't get much variety in colors. You'll see this is true in Metro Parks, County parks and everywhere else. Now that you know, you'll notice you don't see many red maple trees outside of subdivisions in the Troy area. And who wants to take their senior pictures in a subdivision?!
Lily was a trooper. By the time fall colors arrive in Troy, Michigan, it's usually quite chilly and it gets dark pretty early. I can usually only squeeze one session into an afternoon for these fall senior sessions.
I loved that Lily had her fall outfit, her long sleeve outfit and at the very end of the session as the sun went down, she took a few pics baring her midriff. You can't see the goosebumps, but they are there.
So, if you have your heart set on having fall senior pictures taken near Troy, you'll need to set it up sooner rather than later. There are about two weeks that work for the classic fall colors. Some years we get lucky and can squeeze 3 weeks in, but we also have autumns where we only get one week. So, if you're looking for fall senior photography in Troy, I've got you covered.
