Canterbury Village Halloween Wedding ~ Sam and Steve
Sam and Steve love everything about Halloween. So planning their Halloween themed wedding at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, Michigan was a no brainer. Canterbury Village goes all out with Halloween themed “sets” which we took full advantage of. Don’t you love Sam’s black wedding dress?
One of the best parts of this wedding was that all their guests came in costumes as did the staff of the venue. It was awesome!
Getting Ready At Canterbury Chapel ~
Sam, her Mom and maid of honor all got ready in one of the dressing rooms. Steve and the guys arrived already set to go, which is pretty typical for the guys.
Here Come The Bride. All Dressed In Black
I loved photo stalking the guests and Sam was delighted by her guest’s reaction to her black lace wedding dress. The only traditional thing about this Halloween themed wedding that was traditional were the tears during the wedding ceremony.
Halloween Themed Wedding Portraits!
Oh My! We were lucky that Canterbury Village wasn’t open to the public during our time between the wedding ceremony and the reception, so we pretty much had the joint to ourselves. Because everything here is kitsch and over the top, we decided to celebrate the scenery (and maybe mock it just a little bit) with goofy, silly wedding photos.
I loved that every time Sam or Steve or I had a suggestion, we jumped in and did it. This was a “yes, and” improvisational wedding day and I loved the spontaneity of it.
Do the photos look super posed? Yup. Were they unplanned and in the moment? Yes!
Halloween Themed Wedding Reception
Where else would you have a Halloween themed wedding reception, but the Castle at Canterbury Village! Sam knocked herself out with decorations and the space really lent itself to the theme. What really make it seem extra Halloween? The amazing costumes their friends and family came in.
I thought Sam’s grandparents hadn’t come to the reception because they were dressed traditionally during the ceremony. They were completely unrecognizable in the costumes at the reception. Hilarious. Everyone went all in on topping each other for “best costume”. I think the Kiss guy won for commitment. What’s your favorite costume here?
Spooky Canterbury Village Wedding Photos ~
I popped my head outside, behind the castle and say a fog machine with animatronic dragons and thought, yup, that’ll do quite nicely.
So glad Sam and Steve liked the idea of playing in the fog while I lit it. I’m obsessed with how cool and weird these wedding photos are.
