    For a day that threatened to storm the entire day, we didn’t end up getting even a drop of rain. I’d shot wedding photography at the Sacred Heart Parish in Grosse Ile, Michigan before and I was happy to have the opportunity to light the place properly so it could look in photos just like it does to the eye. Many of these beautiful churches are quite dark and I was pleased the priest let me provide all the supplimental lighting I needed to shoot the wedding properly.

After the wedding we headed to the waterfront for photos in sunshine before the storm hit. Again, all my extra portable lighting really made these wedding photos pop and show off the fun between the bride and groom and the wind blowing in.

Next we headed to Dearborn, Michigan for a little more fun with the wedding party. Most of these photos feature Mark and Danielle seeing as I was able to get some interesting, unique and fun wedding photos of them in a park like setting in Dearborn. Danielle did a great job of scouting out locations to shoot her wedding photos in.

Lastly, we headed to The Henry, an upscale hotel in Dearborn that features a gallery where the wedding couple held their cocktail hour and headed into a nearby ballroom for their wedding reception. Up lighting can be difficult to photograph during wedding receptions, but they used enough of them that it really did fill in the gaps and the room was kept light enough that I could balance these lights perfectly. There are a lot of wedding photos featuring the up lighting at The Henry for their wedding reception. I wanted to provide enough samples to show what it can look like if it’s done properly with enough of the lights for the right amount of space. Often they just don’t show up much (if they’re spaced too far apart), or the hall turns down the overhead so much that I can’t take photos that look so nicely balanced with natural skin tones. I’m very happy with the fun results and think it shows off Danielle and Mark’s fun wedding day.
