I’ve been an Oakland County senior photographer photographing high school seniors all over Oakland County for over 15 years. The one constant is that many seniors are not very excited about taking their senior photos. I try to tailor my Oakland County, MI senior sessions to be inclusive, collaborative and fun. The coolest part is that even the most reticent high school seniors (and I’m mainly talking about the guys) end up having fun. They are listened to, I highlight their interests, I literally show them in good light and they not only respond to the attention, but enjoy the experience.

 

So what’s the magic for getting interesting, personality driven high school senior photos? Well, listening to my clients, is probably the most impactful part of a great senior session. I do make sure that they realize I’m there to work with their body language and to showcase their interests and their personality. Nothing weird, boring or super posed.

 

The natural way I approach getting senior photos in the Oakland County, Southeastern Michigan part of our area is to find accessible and interesting places to photograph the seniors that has a large variety of backgrounds. They are places we are welcome, places that are safe and places we can play without drawing too much attention.
