Marci is nothing short of incredible. She truly “told a story” with our day. I frequently look through our pictures that she took from our wedding day just to relive it over again. Here's my Detroit, Michigan wedding photographer's gallery of "Epic Wedding Day Portraits". I have a zillion photos to share with you. After so many years, I clearly have a lot of wedding photos I absolutely love and I want to share those with you. Here are some of my favorite "epic photos".
These are created in the moment during the wedding day on the fly. It's about taking advantage of the light, the weather, the surroundings, the couple's personality and a lot of other things that just aren't tangible.
Every wedding is unique, so all the epic photos end up being tailored to the couple and what opportunities the day presents. While almost all of my clients hire me for my candid, behind the scenes moments and sneaky peek wedding photojournalism, I also know that these epic wedding portraits are the ones that will end up on their walls!
You may notice that a LOT of these epic wedding portraits are super dark. Why is that you, you may ask? Because often we only have time to play after the first dance when the couple is ready for a little together time break away from the action. I've scouted where we can go and how to knock out an epic photos quickly.
I also wanted to show you that many, many venues for both wedding ceremonies and receptions are pretty caves. They need to be lit properly so we can see all the cool things about this place you spent so much time selecting for your wedding. I want it to look as moody, interesting and epic as you think it is. I want to celebrate the coolness of the places you chose to have your wedding and put you in that place and create a one of a kind "masterpiece" of artwork that you're in.
Every wedding presents a vista, a cool weather element, crazy lighting or something that begs to be included into your wedding day portraits. They are often part of the storytelling part of the day, but also celebrate you in that moment at the venue. I never know what it's going to be, but am always on the lookout for that special (often fleeting) thing that we can use to create a unique piece of fabulous artwork that celebrates you.
